"At that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked, "Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?" He called a little child and had him stand among them. And He said: "I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven."
- Matthew 18:1-4
As I was scrambling to keep up with my busy schedule yesterday, of work, work, working, I tried to make a conscious effort of keeping Jesus as the forefront of my mind. This was the only passage of scripture I could squeeze into my morning, but it hit me. It was then that God showed me how this is a powerful lesson in humility.
Another thing: Jesus called the child to stand among them, and called it humility. Jesus was having a conversation with some of His closest friends, men who knew Him better than anyone else. Yet when the kid was told to come and stand among great men, he did not refuse.
We do not have to back away from Jesus when He calls us to stand among great men.
On the contrary, when Jesus calls us to the company of the lowest of lows, we should not be so prideful as to back down from that calling either. But that is a different thought...
Hope ya'll have had a lovely week, full of celebration. Happy Day!!
P.S. This is my lovely, lovely sister, Amy. We were on the way home from piano lessons, when we saw this GINORMOUS puddle in our neighborhood.
We couldn't resist.
I very much enjoyed her beautiful modeling.
However, our "photo-shoot" was cut short...
when I dropped my phone in the puddle...
