I know I have been a bit AWOL lately, but there has just been so much on my mind (and in my planner) that I just haven't been able to write a whole lot lately...
I'm trying to make sure that I am giving ya'll high quality posts and being 100% genuine, instead of risky a lot of on-schedule blog posts that are just okay and "not me."
A lot has gone on in the past few weeks! Sharing 6 updates with ya'll, since I'm covering 3 whole weeks.
1. Fall Semester
The fall semester started for me a couple weeks ago, and I am in full-swing. I am only currently in one class, but it is a fascinating one. For the next few weeks, I'm studying abnormal psychology, which is one of the biggest reasons that I wanted to study psychology in the first place. It is so fun to learn about! So I am very much enjoying having only one class to focus on while I'm learning about something so fun to study.
2. Sara's Upcoming Wedding
Last Saturday was spent celebrating my former Young Life teammate, and her upcoming wedding! Next Saturday her and Chris' entire life will change forever... And after being married myself, weddings feel even more serious and more significant than they felt when i was single. Marriage is such an adventure, and it will be fun to have another friend who is experiencing it, too.
3. Working Out
My single years (pre-Young Life-leading) I worked out very often and fell in love with it. Pushing myself harder and further every time was such a great challenge! So now that we are back in Virginia and settle down to a (kinda) consistent schedule, Jon and I have been getting to the gym more regularly. In the past three weeks I have worked out at least 3 times every week! Woohoo! Baby steps, but hey, they're steps.
Also, if you saw on my Instagram story, I conquered boot camp class! Oh. my. lanta. It kicked my tail, but I finally got over my intimidation, tried it, and survived.
4. TMB Instagram
And speaking of Instagram...
If you missed it on Monday, The Modest Budget has its own Instagram! This way I'm able to focus on more outfit posts, and challenge myself to remix clothing in new ways! And maybe give ya'll some fun ideas/inspiration, too:)
Don't forget, you can always tag your modest outfits you bought on a budget with #TheModestBudget! My hope is to start featuring creative outfits from my followers soon.
5. In the Kitchen: Bone Broth!
I still don't know how to cook many things, but bone broth is one of the easiest things to make... and it makes the house smell UHMAZING.
So now every time I bake a chicken (which is almost weekly) I've been tossing the bones + carcass into the crockpot and cooking it for 12-24 hours. The result is super yummy, and great for making a soup the next day, or sticking in the freezer to save for colder weather.
6. Beach Dates
Remember the beach date on my August goals? Well, it ended up getting put off until last weekend, but it turned out even better. My sweet husband took me to California Pizza Kitchen after church, and then we ran home to bundle up in our new flannels. Sunday had whispers of fall, and it was fun to spend a cozy hour on the beach. (Unfortunately that didn't last long... the heat was back in full swing by Tuesday!)

I agree with you: putting out a few authentic posts is better than a ton of stiff posts. I love weddings! The beach is the best! It looks like y'all had a great time!
