The Modest Budget: Bahama Chic + Link-up

Hello, my friends!
Jon and I are (reluctantly) getting back into every day life after our fabulous anniversary vacation last week... and at the same time, trying to figure out what the new "normal" looks like now that we are back in Virginia!

I think this was by far Jon's favorite outfit to take pictures of.
Why?
Because he could lounge in a beach chair and drink a pina colada while he took them!
I've read that you shouldn't buy things just for vacation because you run the risk of never wearing it again. So I tried to shake up some outfits I already had, and somehow make them more fun for the Bahamas.

At first, packing for the Bahamas without buying a few new outfits kind of bummed me out... but then I realized how many beach-friendly outfits I had in my closet already! It just took a little bit of creativity.

This tank is a Target find from last year, and I really like how light it is. This neckline is also flattering for almost all body types, because it makes your shoulders look broader, giving a greater illusion of an hourglass body shape!
It's loose fit is also great for all of the vacation eating, lol!

And who doesn't find a pair of white linen pants refreshing in the summertime? Sometimes I just get tired of wearing shorts, and these pants are a great substitute for shorts without adding a lot of warmth.

The hat and long necklace (gifts from my husband:) and some basic sandals had me feeling very high-class for shuffleboard and strolls on the beach. This outfit worked really well for wearing my one-piece bathing suit underneath.

I am always inspired when a blogger takes an article of clothing and remixes it. This white button down shirt post from Anna shows just that.

I can relate to Roxanne's picture taking experience from this post. Other than that I love this floral jumpsuit look.

    1. White pants are totally "in" right now... and flannel means that you can have the fad without the heat!

  3. Actually you're wrong about neckline. Because it's too close to your neck it makes short people look shorter.
