Keeping Up with the Capra's: Movies, Williamsburg, & Thrift Store Scores!

Not sure how it's been three weeks since my last "Keeping Up with the Capra's," but here we are! So I'm throwing in an extra update or two since it's been three weeks instead of the usual two.

1. Hurricane Matthew

If ya'll noticed on Instagram, Hurricane Matthew didn't hit us too bad, but our house looked like an island when we woke up!

2. Williamsburg Study Date

Last week was my fall break and Jon's final's week, so we tried to shake things up by going somewhere fun to finish our work.
People tend to roll their eyes when I tell them that "Jon makes everything more fun," but it really is true. When I can let go of my control freak, planning-obsessed nature, Jon can turn even a day full of homework into a fall day adventure.

We stopped at a Starbucks so he could work on a paper (and I could teach myself a new crochet pattern;) for a few hours, and then finished the day with a beautiful walk around Williamsburg. Even though we were working most of the time, the change of scenery made the biggest difference.
So glad I married this man.

3. Bonfires & Outdoor Movies

We went from 80*-days to 60*-days over the course of a week, so we celebrated with an outdoor movie and a bonfire with my siblings next door! It was a great way to celebrate fall weather finally making an arrival.

4. Heroes vs. Villains!

Speaking of my little siblings, how cute are these super heroes/villains that invaded my house Wednesday!! If you missed my Instagram story, you totally missed out on some su-weet fight moves.

I love living next door to my family!

5. Lots and lots of thrifting

Aside from the thrift wins I showed ya'll last week, I went back a week later to look for pants specifically... and I found more!! 4 pairs of pants and a dress for $22!
Last week: four shorts and a throw for $12
The week: 4 pairs of pants and a dress for $22!

6. Learning to Crochet (and still knitting;)

Ya'll know I'm an obsessive knitter, but I'm trying to expand on my craftiness by getting better at crocheting, too. It still feels so super awkward, and I still think knitting is easier (duh, I've been doing it for 10 years!), but I'm still practicing.
Maybe I'll even start selling my crocheting too??

Not too shabby for some of my first ones, right??

Also...

Working on opening my online knitting shop!!! Stay tuned!!

Hope ya'll are having a great week! Stay safe on this Halloween weekend.

  5. I've been trying to learn to crochet also. My mom tried teaching me when I was younger but she is not a teacher. My sister had my grandmother to teach her, but I could never do it. I taught myself to knit only because I was determined to learn. I was told by an older lady if I would have learned to crochet first instead of knitting, I wouldn't have a hard time with holding the yarn for crocheting. I think she may be right because it's the tension of the yarn I'm struggling with.

I love your "Keeping Up With the Capra's" idea. Thanks for sharing with Thankful Thursdays.
