Merry Christmas!
And happy Christmas break to my fellow college students!
I just finished my last final yesterday, and the feeling of freedom is real, lol. Now I have nothing better to do than enjoying the rest of this festive month as much as possible!
As I write this, I'm helping my brother make a Christmas present, wearing sweatpants and fuzzy socks, and watching How the Grinch Stole Christmas (my favorite Christmas movie!)
These "Keeping Up with the Capra's" segments are my favorites because it's my time to look back over the last week or two and be reminded of how much there is to be thankful for. It's so easy to get in a stressful mood or mundane rut, but reminders of the Lord's goodness and faithfulness are always present in my camera roll.
Gingerbread... Cafe?
My mom bought Jon and I this adorable Starbucks gingerbread cafe set. I thought it was so funny that Starbucks was branching into gingerbread houses, but it was fun to make something look like a cafe instead of a house.
Our finished project was nothing worthy of a Home & Gardens magazine, but we had a blast making it.
Family Time
Jon's work schedule was a little weird last week... which meant he was home on a weekday! He made me an awesome breakfast, and Penny and I had company on our daily walk 😊 It's dark by the time he gets off work during the week, and our weekends our typically busy, so having him for a weekday was really nice.
Christmas Tree Trouble
Just like last year, we are having a bunch of trouble with our Christmas tree!!
It started with this free tree we got from my parents... Not knowing it was HUGE! Seriously, it wouldn't even fit in our house (unless we put it under a sky light 😂).
Jon took the top off and tried to make the other layer look like the top.
THEN, we started lighting and thought it would be fine. But we ran out of lights!
We ran to Walmart and thought we stocked up... only to run out of lights again later 😂 Jon came to my rescue and ran to get more. The whole ordeal was so long, we decided to call it a night, drink hot chocolate, and put the ornaments on another night.
Status update: Two of the strings of lights have already blown, so it didn't stay fully-lit for long! Oh well.
Christmas Town at Busch Gardens
My family and I have been to Christmas town before, but this year I got to go with my in-laws! It's always so pretty, and the Gloria show is my favorite.
Something new we found this year, was this cool candle-maker! He had been making these intricate, carved candles for 30+ years, and he made one right before our eyes in only minutes! It was beautiful, and super interesting to watch.
No More School!
It feels wonderful to be done with homework for a couple of weeks. I look forward to the days I'll be done with school completely! But, until then, I'm going to make the best of this break, and spend it reading, hanging out with my family, and taking a mental break. 😊 You might see a little less of me... But it's just because I'll be working on my Christmas bucket list that I've been making!
(Which, if you're wondering, involves a date night to the ice skating rink + Sushi King, making snowflakes for my front door, and drinking loads of hot chocolate!)
