Keeping Up with the Capra's: All things BABY!

Hey friends!

I feel like the last two weeks have been PACKED. The first week was spring break for me, and the second was full of Gender Reveal party preparation! (Not to mention cleaning my entire house!)

And while these posts are all about our family life updates, I realize that all I have to talk about this time has to do with pregnancy, babies or maternity! 😳 Lol. Sorry! It's all I seem to be able to talk about these days 😂

Maternity Shopping

Ya'll. I really can't stand maternity shopping. I hardly like shopping when I am my normal size, but trying to shop for a temporary closet while I am growing and growing and growing is just so miserable. It goes against every thrifty notion in me to spend 100's of dollars on clothes I'm only going to wear a few months! But, I did find a few things at Target, and I'm still hunting thrift stores.

Lots of Fam Time

Now that my parents have three college kids, it's hard to get everyone all in one place. But since Hayden and I still live close, we were able to be home a lot while Dustin was home from Liberty! It was so nice to have some QT with them. Lots of people would look at my family and say "but you have 7 other siblings; what's the big deal?" but the family doesn't feel right until everyone is there.

Banana Baby!

So all my bananas went bad on the week my baby was as big as a banana... so no banana pic! BUT, it's still so crazy to me that he is that long! He's about 10-11 inches long, and the doctor estimated his weight at about 12 oz last week.
(See the box of balloons in the backseat? 😂 )

and it's a BOY baby!

We finally know!!! The reveal video is on my Instagram and my Facebook page, and it is so fun to watch. I still can't believe we are having a son... I still catch myself calling him "it," just because it hasn't fully "sunk in"!

First Baby Shopping Experience

The first thing I wanted to do after we found out if we were having a boy or a girl was GO SHOPPING! I had not bought a single thing for 20 weeks, and now I was ready to go hog.
We didn't actually buy a lot, but Jon and I did go shopping and get a few things. It was so fun looking at clothes and actually imagining our son wearing them in just a few months!
This Carter's "Dude" romper is my fave, and the one I'm most excited for him to wear! (and it's only $7.00 in the link!)

Knitting a blanket... for MY baby!

I feel like only the people who know me best know what a big deal it is that I finally get to knit a baby blanket for my baby. I have knit countless baby blankets for other people, for the last 11 years! So it was almost emotional to buy yarn for my baby, and to start working on something that will stay in my family. (and omg it's so.soft.)
(Stay tuned with all things Casey + knitting at Thistlefish Knits!)

  1. A BIG Congratulations to you and your husband, Casey! I am your neighbor at Holley's today, and just wanted to pop in, and say hi! God bless you in your pregnancy. After 12 1/2 years of marriage and many years of infertility, God blessed us with a baby boy of our own. He is now 16. He is the dearest blessing we have ever been given, next to our salvation. God is so good! You are going to LOVE being a mother...and, by the way, I surely know how it feels to make baby blankets for so many others and to hurt inside knowing it was not for our own. I don't knit, I crochet, but I surely can relate to that kind of pain. God bless you and your sweet, little family!

  2. Congratulations to you! I remember how fun it was to imagine the baby wearing the clothes we had either picked out or had been given. We have 7, all grown now and some with kids of their own. But I still remember the joy of each one. Blessings to you! I'm your neighbor at #TestimonyTuesday.
