The Outer Banks was the perfect place to go, too, because it was only 1.5-2 hours away from us. It meant we got more time at our destination (instead of spending so much time traveling to/from) and it didn't require a ton of planning.
Instead of going straight to the Sanderling in Duck, we spent our first night at an Inn nearby so that we could wake up and head straight to the resort. We meandered around and found some really fun things happening there... including these gigantic kites at Jockey's Ridge!
Not to mention the farmer's markets and the gourmet popcorn store (we are such suckers for popcorn)
That night we ate at Basnight's Lone Cedar Cafe right on the water. Jon had eaten there before and swears by their she crab soup! It really was a cool place. The atmosphere is super "come as you are," and there are really pretty gardens outside to walk around. The next morning we headed straight for Duck. The resort is absolutely amazing... and they even upgraded our room without extra cost just so we could check in sooner and head to the beach!
(Where I proceeded to get a virgin "mocktail" and balance it on my belly๐ )
Everywhere we went was full of southern, coastal charm... totally our kind of style for relaxing.
We packed our day full of being at the beach and snoozing by the adult pool (just because we still can๐)
Fireside s'mores that night!
It really was the perfect way to enter into this new season of parenthood, feeling like we were able to connect before our lives go through such a crazy transition! I now recommend babymoons to everyone ๐
Where would you go for your babymoon?
Are you a fan like I am?
